Ciociaria, early 1950s. A young peasant girl is chosen to participate in the Miss Italy selections, but her body measurements do not meet the requirements of the competition. Subjecting herself to a terrible physical transformation process seems to be the price to pay to be crowned as the “Reginetta” (Little Queen).
Biografia
ederico Russotto was born in Rome in 1996. After high school, he moved to London where he studied directing and screenwriting at Royal Holloway and Ravensbourne University. In 2019, he was admitted to the directing course at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome. In 2021, his short film L’avversario won a special jury mention at Alice Nella Città and was presented at numerous national and international film festivals. His subsequent short film, Reginetta, is in competition at the 37th International Critics’ Week in Venice.
